The Monterey Bay Area Green Business Program has certified Rope Partner as a Santa Cruz Green Business. The process took more than two months to complete over 100 eco-conscious retrofits to the main office and training facility. Compliance with measures for waste management, water usage, energy consumption and business practices were completed in order to meet certification requirements. Over time, these improved business practices will make a significant difference in our consumption and footprint.

After successful field trials, Dantec Dynamics is releasing a new ruggedized shearography system for up-tower inspection. Shearography is an optical inspection technique to find sub-surface defects in material such as wind turbine blades. In conjunction with Rope Partner, the leader in rope access services in the wind-energy industry, the new capability will enable detection of defects, including wrinkling, up-tower across large areas while keeping access cost to a minimum.

Rope Partner has partnered with 3M to conduct an in-field study on the effects of leading edge wind turbine blade damage. The purpose of the yearlong study is to quantify the reduction in overall wind turbine output due to leading edge erosion. This data-driven study will be the first published work to put verifiable numbers behind this widespread issue for wind turbine blades.
